Namast Y'all
The title of my post comes from a t-shirt that was the hit of a yoga workshop I recently attended (full disclosure--I am multi-spiritual: Catholic/Buddhist, practice Yoga & celebrate the major Jewish holidays). The t-shirts were brought by a beautiful yogini from Texas with whom I had some enlightened conversations with about Sarah Palin.
Namaste is a Sanskrit greeting which can be translated several ways but the one I choose today is "All that is best and highest in me greets/salutes all that is best and highest in you." This reminds us that everyone alive has a spirit seeking connection with one another and a higher or universal power. We all wander down paths that we find do not serve our goal. Therefore, we need to be humble in judging our own path and generous in judging the paths of others.
Namaste to Sarah Palin, Tea Baggers, Republicans, Democrats and all my fellow progressives in this country. The phrase "Peace starts with me" applies--as soon as we stop our negativity towards "others" we can find the peace that helps us see the path ahead and up.
